Space Art Original Paintings

Original paintings are becoming increasingly rare as artists find that digital work affords them greater flexibility. Computers have become just another artist's tool but unfortunately, there is no original; only a digital file. Most of our artists use the electronic brush today, but occasionally revert to old style brush-and-pallette method to produce these one-of-a-kind paintings. TERMS available on most works.

 Dr. Dan Durda is a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, CO. Formerly holding the same position at the Univeristy of Arizona in NOVA SPACE ART's' home town of Tucson, AZ. For a few of those years, Dan came into our gallery and studied works by all the masters of space art. Unknown to us, Dan was a budding artist himself, and was quietly learning and comparing his own developing technique.
Dan Durda 		William K. Hartmann is a noted astronomer, author and artist. He is senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. He was an investigator on the Mariner 9 Mars probe which mapped the Red Planet for the first time in 1972. An asteroid (#3341) is named for him.
William Hartmann 		Chris' works have been published in Sky and Telescope and Asimov's Science Fiction magazines, in addition to several publications overseas, where his work is well-known. His works are filling up collections worldwide.
Chris Butler 		He frequently illustrated books and articles by the late Carl Sagan, and he also collaborated for many years with Sagan for his essays in Sunday PARADE magazine. Lately his work has turned primarily digital and is often seen on the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel in various documentaries on cosmic subjects.

Pat Rawlings, 52, was born in Greenville TX. Pat creates images based on scientific and technical themes that appeal to both rocket scientists and regular folk. His extraterrestrial "snapshots" of future events give viewers a sense of "being there" as explorers hop from one world to the next using the best technology of the 21st century.
Pat Rawlings 		Mike was responsible for the genesis of the IAAA, the international guild of space artists,serving on the initial steering committee along with NOVASPACE'S Kim Poor, and STAR TREK's Rick Sternbach. Mike organized the first-ever space art exhibition at the Planetary Society's first Planetfest during the first Voyager encounter with Saturn in 1981. He was also chairman of the second space art workshop held in otherworldly Death Valley in 1983, which resulted in the first North American touring space art exhibit, Other Worlds, during 1984-1987. He was also chairman for the space art workshop held in Arches National Park in September of 1995.
Michael Carroll 		Pam Lee, the "artist's artist" gives us a possible view of a deliberate explosion on an Earth-approaching asteroid, attempting to steer it away from collision.
Pam Lee 		Bob Eggleton has done countless book covers, for authors such as Gregory Benford, Greg Bear, Hal Clement, Arthur C. Clarke, and Isaac Asimov. His magazine credits include ASTRONOMY and SKY & TELESCOPE, SCIENCE FICTION AGE, and FANTASY & SCIENCE FICTION. He has also illustrated many of his own compilations such as ALIEN WORLDS, SEA MONSTERS, and the newest,GREETINGS FROM EARTH.
Bob Eggleton 		Joe Tucciarone's works are remarkable and singular in their precision and texture. He has mastered subtleties of nebulae and gaseous phenomena, while his lighting and sharply focused landscapes provide a stark counterpoint to the softness of his background subjects. His palette of color is unique among our artists, from popsicle purples to rich blues and siennas. He has a large cult of fanatic collectors of his prints and originals.
