Michael Carroll, Original Space Art Paintings

Michael Carroll was responsible for the genesis of the IAAA, the international guild of space artists, serving on the initial steering committee along with NOVASPACE'S Kim Poor, and STAR TREK's Rick Sternbach. Mike organized the first-ever space art exhibition at the Planetary Society's first Planetfest during the first Voyager encounter with Saturn in 1981. He was also chairman of the second space art workshop held in otherworldly Death Valley in 1983, which resulted in the first North American touring space art exhibit, Other Worlds, during 1984-1987. He was also chairman for the space art workshop held in Arches National Park in September of 1995. Mike is now a Fellow of the IAAA and recipient of the Lucien Rudaux award for lifetime achievement in the astronomical arts.

Mike was staff artist for the Reuben Fleet Space Theater, one of the world's largest planetariums and OMNIMAX theatres in San Diego. He has moved back to his hometown of Denver as a free-lance artist, science journalist, and novelist. He lives with his wife Caroline.
