The Totem Pole formation is at one end of the Yei-bi-chei formation, a remarkable stand of sandstone spires in Monument Valley, AZ on the Navajo reservation.
On a stay at the valley during the space art workshop in 1984, I was struck by the colors: Red rocks, the bluest sky, flesh-colored dunes. My slides came out blah, so I set upon painting the scene as I remembered it.
Appropriately framed in a beefy 4" wide western dark wood frame with a 1" rust suede liner & gold lip.
