Space Art Giclee Editions

A giclee (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork, or a digital file. Also, since many artists now produce only digital art, there is no "original" that can be hung on a wall. Chris Butler is one of our proudest discoveries. We found him as a teenage doodler while doing a show in L.A. some years ago. We encouraged him a little, and a few years later he is doing top-quality work and is our best selling artist of original paintings. He is incredibly prolific, and never seems to repeat himself. His artistic maturity has advanced rapidly. He is now the artist for the famed Griffith Park Planetarium in Los Angeles.
Chris Butler 		Ever wonder what happens to old astronomers when they die? Mike paid homage to his friends, college professors, himself and even his wife by including their likenesses in this humorous rendering of the rings of Saturn.
Michael Carroll 		Don Davis frequently illustrated books and articles by the late Carl Sagan, and he also collaborated for many years with Sagan for his essays in Sunday PARADE magazine. Lately his work has turned primarily digital and is often seen on the Discovery Channel and The Science Channel in various documentaries on cosmic subjects.
Don Davis 		The original painting was a 24 x 48 canvas, and was the centerpiece of the gallery, until it sold for a few thousand dollars.

Alan Gutierrez has illustrated spacecraft concepts for NASA. Art directors and publishers seek out Alan's work for its eye-popping color and drama.
Alan Gutierrez 		This is a view of Jupiter from its first (major) moon, Amalthea. Amalthea is presumed to be a captured asteroid, since it is irregularly shaped, and only 150 miles long.
Kim Poor 		Joe Tucciarone's works are remarkable and singular in their precision and texture. He has mastered subtleties of nebulae and gaseous phenomena, while his lighting and sharply focused landscapes provide a stark counterpoint to the softness of his background subjects. His palette of color is unique among our artists, from popsicle purples to rich blues and siennas. He has a large cult of fanatic collectors of his prints and originals.

This large giclee is from an artist that caught our eye a couple of years ago. His colorful retro style was a big hit at Spacefest 2009. Edition of only 50, signed and numbered. Peter is one of the top book cover designers in the country, but his unique rockets are his sideline.
Peter Thorpe 		The lunar module (LM) Eagle, with Armstrong and Aldrin aboard, separates from the Command Module Columbia leaving Mike Collins to orbit the moon, and begins its historic descent to the surface.
Ed Hengeveld 		An orbiting space shuttle is near the end of its mission, closed the payload doors, as the crew prepares for re-entry.
Pam Lee 		Michelle painted this view of the Mars Phoenix lander seconds before touchdown on the Martian Polar plain.
Michelle Rouch 		Paul Calle used an impasto (thick paint) technique to render this LARGE painting of the impressive first seconds of the powerful liftoff of the Saturn V moon rocket. Each of the 5 F-1 engines could encompass a full grown man standing up, and produced over 1.5 million pounds of thrust.
