Chris Calle's poignant painting fittingly honors the end of the Apollo lunar missions in December 1972. Apollo 17 commander Gene Cernan is shown standing on the Moon in his classic "John Wayne" pose, while the Stars & Stripes provide a striking splash of color against the grey lunar surface. Above Gene's helmet, our home planet shines like a blue marble in the black void of space. To date, Gene is the last person to leave footprints on the Moon, hoping that others might someday return.
This canvas is stretched onto wooden stretcher bars to keep it flat, and is available unframed or framed. Signed and numbered by the artist, limited to an edition of only 250.
